Leonard Fournette, one of the most coveted recruits in Louisiana history, has already drawn comparisons to Adrian Peterson even though the freshman has yet to play a down of college football.
That has not stopped head coach Les Miles from having high praises and expectations for the New Orleans native; even mentioning six-time NBA champion Michael Jordan in the same sentence as Fournette.
“I think it’s exactly where he needs to be,” Miles said at SEC Media day. “He expects himself to be something very special. I think if you look at Michael Jordan, he could not have been coached to be Michael Jordan. Michael Jordan accepted the role of expecting him to be better than any.
“I think he [Fournette] has a quiet confidence there that will benefit him, and I think we will always have an opportunity to play at that spot the running backs that are fresh.”
Fournette’s teammate, senior running back Terrence Magee also had great things to say about the freshman.
“Who wouldn’t want to play in a backfield with a guy like that? He has been compared to Adrian Peterson,” Magee stated. “To be honest, I think it’s the only guy that’s playing the running back position right now that you can compare [Fournette] to.”
LSU is expected to have a three-headed monster at running back which will include Leonard Fournette. LSU opens their season versus Wisconsin on August 30 at NRG stadium in Houston Texas.
