Bo Jackson To Jameis Winston: You’re On Your Own

Not many student-athletes can say they had the opportunity to seek guidance from one of the all-time greatest athletes to ever walk the earth.

You would think that Florida State quarterback Jamies Winston would take Bo Jackson’s advice seriously, knowing both are from Bessemer, Alabama, and both are a part of the Heisman Trophy fraternity.

But apparently, Jackson’s advice and wisdom to Winston went in one ear and out the other.

Jackson appeared on the Jim Rome Show and seemed rather irked Winston failed to listen.

“I really don’t know who is giving this young man guidance,” Jackson stated. “I have communicated with him, and I just talked to him like I was his dad. The things that you need to do. And this was before the incident where he was (suspended) from the baseball team (for stealing crab legs).

“I’m the type of person, I will go out of my way to help anybody. Normally, I don’t like giving people advice if I haven’t been down that road myself. But if I give you advice on something that I know more about than you by just falling out of bed in the morning, if you can’t take that advice and learn from it, then I’ve got nothing else to do with the situation. You’re on your own.”

Winston has been the subject of national headlines ever since he took over as the Seminoles starting quarterback, both good and bad.

Recently, Winston has been under investigation by the university regarding autographs signed by Winston.

Jackson, along with many others, believe Winston needs to mature as quickly as possible or things will only get worse.

“Jameis Winston needs to make some changes in his life. Because it’s affecting him now, and it’s definitely going to affect him down the road.”
