Former Florida State Seminoles cornerback PJ Williams stopped by SI Now to address his recent DUI arrest while admitting he "had a few drinks."

NFL Draft prospect PJ Williams addresses DUI arrest

Former Florida State Seminoles cornerback and NFL Draft hopeful PJ Williams was arrested for DUI earlier this month.

On Wednesday, Williams sat down on the set of SI Now to discuss his misstep and any impact it may have on his NFL Draft stock with the arrest coming so close to this month’s draft in Chicago.

“Yes, I had a few drinks, but I’m definitely owning my mistake today…Right now, I’m just hoping teams just judge me off my film and the type of player I am and the information they get from my coaches,” Williams told SI Now host Maggie Gray.

Did that incident lead to teams questioning PJ Williams’ character? As far as he is concerned, he has taken all of the appropriate steps and he believes it should not have a negative impact.

“They ask about it, but they haven’t really questioned my character, most teams are pretty much telling me that it shouldn’t affect me much because knowing my character background, talking to my coaches…I’m definitely making sure it’s not going to happen again, knowing the rules of the NFL, knowing how it will affect the team and me and also my family.”

Williams was projected by many to go in the first round prior to his DUI.

Following the incident, he is still a very strong candidate to be selected on Day 1 of the draft.
