Report: Malik Newman plans on choosing Mississippi State

Everyone in the college basketball world has been wanting to figure out where five-star point guard Malik Newman was going to begin his collegiate career.

According to a report from CBS Sports, Newman will be joining the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

The report states that two coaches involved in Malik Newman’s recruiting say Newman-to-Mississippi State is “done.” Another added, “We’re still trying … but I think MSU is the place.”

The decision to commit to Missisippi State would come as no surprise, with the buzz stating new Bulldog head coach Ben Howland had been doing a good job at convincing the shooting guard to stay in his home state.

Newman is a big-time prospect and the No. 5 overall player in his class and the top player at his position.

If Newman is able to live up to his potential at the collegiate level, he could very well find himself as a one-and-done player who is a lottery pick in the 2016 draft.

Malik Newman will officially make his announcement on Friday in Jackson, Mississippi. The announcement is currently set for Friday at 1 p.m. ET.
