La’El Collins Will Not Play This Year if Not Drafted Tonight

The La’El Collins continues as he continues to work to clear his name in Baton Rouge. Collins’ representatives told Michael David Smith of NBC Sports’ Pro Football Talk that if the former LSU offensive tackle is not picked in rounds two or three tonight, he will not sign with a team this year and instead enter the 2016 draft.

Collins is currently in Baton Rouge waiting to meet with local police so that he may clear his name in the murder investigation of his pregnant ex-girlfriend, Brittany Mills.

Mills, 29, was shot to death last Friday and ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that police had made it clear that Collins was NOT a suspect in the shooting. Collins voluntarily left Chicago two days ago and returned to Baton Rouge.

Since then, there have been rumblings among executives that Collins would be undraftable unless his name was cleared. He won’t meet with police until Monday, but teams are currently awaiting new information tonight.

Campus Sports will update this story as new information comes in.
