WNBA Indiana Fever to Honor Lauren Hill on June 14th

On June 14th, the Indiana Fever are to hold a tribute night for late hero Lauren Hill against the Chicago Sky. Lauren Hill and her inspirational story were followed on a national level up until she lost her battle with brain cancer this April.

The young college basketball player from Glendale, IN was named an honorary team member of the Indiana Fever last year; and the team attended one of Hill’s games at Cincinnati’s Mount St. Joseph University last fall.

Head coach Stephanie White and star forward Tamika Catchings will be meeting Hill’s family before the game where they will serve as honorary captains for the team.

In addition, there will be a jersey dedicated to Lauren Hill resting on a bench seat throughout the entire game. Most importantly, the  Be YOUnique Fund will donate $300 to The Cure Starts Now for all lay ups scored in the game, regardless of team.

While Lauren Hill is sadly no longer with us, her impact continues to have an affect on people across the country. She used her time as a public figure to raise both awareness and money for cancer research.

If there is no other game to watch during the WNBA season, at leas tune in on June 14th in honor of Lauren Hill, her family, and everything they have given to help those who are now in the situation she was.
