Oklahoma HC Sherri Coale makes Women’s Basketball Hall

Oklahoma Sooners head women’s basketball coach Sherri Coale will headline the 2016 women’s basketball Hall of Fame class, as was reported by Doug Feinberg of the Associated Press.

Joining her will be former Missouri State guard Jackie Stiles, former Olympian Natalie Williams, referee June Courteau, Texas girls high school coach Joe Lombard, and late AAU coach Bill Tipps.

Coale has been the head coach at Oklahoma since 1996, when she took over a floundering Sooners women’s program after coaching at nearby Norman High School the previous six seasons.

Since assuming head coaching duties, she has posted a record of 420-206 (199-112 Big 12) with four Big 12 titles and three trips to the Final Four, plus one to the championship game in 2002, where the Sooners lost to Geno Auriemma-led UConn.
