Video: Thon Maker breaks ankles at 3rd July Live Period

Thon Maker is one of the country’s top prospects for the class of 2016. Bam Adebayo is, too. The two of them met on opposite teams at the third July Live Period late Wednesday night and Maker showed exactly why he is considered the nation’s best big man.

College Basketball Talk shared a video of Maker showing off some impressive ball-handling skills and his elusiveness when he nearly separated Adebayo from his feet. The highlight video was pretty nasty.

Now allow me to clarify something. Maker should not be able to do this. He is usually not a ball-handler. He is known as one the best low-post and shot blockers in the 2016 recruiting class. In terms of comparing him to an NBA athlete, he’s Kevin Garnett.

Maybe this is why Maker is ninth best player in the country and the number one overall player in Virginia. The five-star power forward currently holds offers from Arizona State, Kentucky, Kansas, and Louisville among others with the Sun Devils being the strong favorite right now.

Oh, even though Maker did make Adebayo look foolish on the court, Bam’s team still won the game. Crossovers don’t mean anything if you can’t finish the game.

Hopefully, these two meet on the court next season, which I am sure will happen. Unless they end up at the same school together. That could be scary.
