Kentucky dismisses former Buckeye Marcelys Jones

Former Ohio State Buckeyes offensive lineman Marcelys Jones won’t get a chance to hit the reset button with Kentucky as it was announced today that Wildcats head coach Mark Stoops had dismissed him from the program for a violation of team rules.

Jones’ dismissal was announced on Twitter by Kyle Tucker of the Courier-Journal.

This is a rough situation for Jones, a former three-star recruit out of Cleveland’s Glenville High School. He left Ohio State over lack of playing time, and couldn’t seem to follow simple team rules while in Lexington. He was set to sit out this season anyway due to NCAA transfer rules, and such will be the case if he lands with another FBS program in the near future. At this point, however, he’d probably be wise to head to junior college and rebuild his value so that the dismissal doesn’t hamper him too much.

Just why Jones was dismissed has not been announced in great detail and he has yet to comment on the situation, but Campus Sports will update this story if any new information becomes available.
