The match up between the Rutgers Scarlet Knights and Norfolk State Rams at High Point Solutions Stadium has been a cupcake game nearing the start of the fourth quarter despite the effort of a two-touchdown count for Norfolk State’s quarterback Greg Hankerson.
Late into the third quarter (6:03 remaining), third down conversions have proved troublesome for Norfolk State (4-for-10), while Rutgers pours on a defensive campaign, allowing -15 yards versus Rutgers’ 128 (Q# 5:30).
Shortly after halftime with Rutgers ahead 21-13, a kick returned by Janarion Grant picked up a bouncing ball at the 20-yard line and maintained to shake off the poor tackling maneuvers of Norfolk State.
Once Grant reached the 40-yard line towards the endzone, his special teams touchdown merely turned into a 40-yard dash.
What a play! @RFootball Janarion Grant makes an 80-yard touchdown run off of a kick return against Norfolk State! http://t.co/zszRE9225C

Four minutes after the kickoff return for a touchdown, the Scarlet Knights aren’t giving many scoring opportunities for the Rams, shutting them out (knock on wood) so far 21-0 in the third quarter.
Rutgers quarterback, Chris Laviano, who was suspended for the first half is already 2-for-2 passing for 111 yards and 2 touchdowns, both in the direction of Leonte Carroo. Carroo, a senior out of Edison, New Jersey, hauled in a long ball at the 15-yard line and managed to keep his balance after being tripped up.
So @rfootball's Leonte Carroo's first catch of the season is a TD. Now if he keeps that pace up … http://t.co/GVN6wH2A9l
