It’s been quite the busy year, and week, for Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer. In the Buckeyes first bye week of the season, the reigning national championship coach has dealt with his starting quarterback JT Barret’s fiasco, as well as getting his team prepared for their primetime matchup against Minnesota Saturday night.
So its certainly OK if the 51-year-old forgets a thing or two during the week, primarily things don’t pertain much importance to him.
According to reports, Meyer forgot that the College Football Playoff selection committee came out with the seasons first playoff rankings Tuesday night. The same selection committee that gave the Buckeyes the fourth and final spot in the four team playoff last year, is sure to do the same Tuesday night, possibly giving the reigning champs a number one overall spot.
The Buckeyes have yet to slip from the #1 ranking in the AP and Coaches poll, but the playoff committee tends to look at a teams entire body of work and strength of schedule when selecting their most deserving teams, both of which Ohio State is not ranked highly.
The selection committee will make their announcement tonight on ESPN at 7 p.m. ET.
