The Oklahoma Sooners pulled off a big win last week when they beat the Baylor Bears by ten in McLane Stadium in Waco. They are now just one spot out of the top six in the latest College Football Playoff rankings and they have a shot of making it to the CFP this year.
The team has looked very hot since their loss to Texas a month ago and they have a great chance of winning the Big 12 championship. After their big win, they were named the AutoNation National Team of the Week according to the Football Writers Association of America.
The Sooners’ defense had a great game against the Bears, forcing five three-and-outs and to just 416 yards, which is 250 below their season average.
“You go into the number six team’s backyard on a night like this and play this way, it just tells you that we’re one of those teams that has a chance at everything,” Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops said. “We’re just going to keep trying to improve and give yourself an opportunity next week to play just as well or better. Again, you come into an undefeated team ranked that high, waiting on you, and win by 10. It’s got to be a positive.”
The Sooners’ offense was very good in the game as well. They went for 500 yards for the fifth straight game as quarterback Baker Mayfield found Sterling Shepard 14 times for 170 yards and two touchdowns.
