Class of 2016 five-star shooting guard Malik Monk, out of Arkansas’ Bentonville High School, just 37 miles north of the University of Arkansas’ Fayetteville campus, has chosen to leave his home state and commit to the University of Kentucky.
Evan Daniels of Scout.com reported Monk’s decision.
Monk had also received offers from Kansas, Florida State, Oregon, Arkansas and Alabama, but will now head to a Kentucky team that’s looking absolutely stacked for next season.
Not only does Kentucky have Monk among its 2016-17 freshman, but coach John Calipari also reeled in the following: point man De’Aaron Fox, forwards Bam Adebayo and Wenyen Gabriel, and four-star talent Sascha Killyea-Jones.
That’s practically a full starting lineup of all freshman. Remember what happened the last time Kentucky basically had just that? You know, when Anthony Davis was on the team?
Needless to say, with the latest addition of Monk, Kentucky has once again secured one of the best overall teams in the nation.
