Former Fordham head coach Joe Moorhead is headed to Happy Valley to become Penn State’s new offensive coordinator and though fans and players are bummed to see him go, it’s clear it’s not an easy decision for him either.
Moorhead took to Twitter and posted a heartfelt thank you to the university and his players, and it will hit you square in the feels.
Moorhead coached the Rams to a 38-13 (11-1 Patriot) record in four seasons in the Bronx and made the FCS Playoffs three times. His job at Penn State will be much harder, given how the Nittany Lions ranked second to last in offense in the Big Ten last year and have ranked 107th nationally in head coach James Franklin’s two years at Penn State.
The good news is that Moorhead has a reputation as a fine offensive mind and should help jump-start a program that had a shoddy offensive line and limited production in the receiving department in 2015. It will take time, but he should eventually right the ship.
