Northwestern, Tennessee consume 5,000 pounds of food at feast

Northwestern and Tennessee’s respective football teams are both already in Tampa for the Outback Bowl on New Year’s Day and at the welcome dinner, both squads showed just how much football players can eat.

According to Paul Fortenberry of Rivals, both teams ate a combined 5,000 pounds of food!

OK, serious question. How is anyone able to eat ANY of that food and just not fall asleep for two days afterward? I take one bit of ribs and immediately need a nap, so these players must have Superman-quality digestive systems.

Well, one thing is certain. Both teams are eating quite well in the days leading up to the game!

Kickoff at Raymond James Stadium is slated for 12 p.m. ET on ESPN2
