Rumored opponent for Gegard Mousasi at UFC London

Gegard Mousasi was supposed to fight Michael Bisping at UFC Fight Night 83, but that bout was scrapped after UFC officials announced that Bisping would be fighting Anderson Silva at the event.

Mousasi made it clear that he will still be fighting in the co-main event slot on the card. He posted the following on Twitter:

“I am not injured, and I will remain on the UFC London card as co-main event. My manager is working with the UFC to find new opponent.”

According to a report by MMAWeekly.comUFC officials are trying to have Thales Leites fight Mousasi in the co-main event slot. This bout would make sense if you’re looking at the rankings as Mousasi is currently the No. 9 ranked middleweight in the UFC, while Leites is just one spot behind him at No. 10.

This bout has not been confirmed by the UFC.

UFC Fight Night 83 takes place Feb 27 at The O2 in London and will air exclusively on UFC Fight Pass.
