There is a lot of skepticism surrounding former WWE Champion turned Mix Martial Artist CM Punk’s pending debut in the UFC.
Many assume that it’s just a PR stunt to draw money, and that the man known as Phil Brooks won’t be around for more than a single fight. Well, after stating that he plans to be around for eight fights in the UFC, Punk decided to talk about the doubters or hater specifically.
“I expect people to be disappointed,” Punk told The Sun. “I expect all those people that think I’m gonna get knocked out in 10 seconds to be disappointed. I expect people to bet against me and lose their money. I expect people to get divorced because they’re upset that their wife wanted me to win, and they wanted me to lose, you know?”
Punk is expected to make his debut sometime in the first half of the year, possibly at UFC 199 or 200. There has been no word on a specific opponent for him, but he has been linked to Mickey Gall.
