Purdue F Caleb Swanigan doubtful this weekend with ankle injury

Purdue freshman forward Caleb Swanigan is doubtful to play this weekend against Nebraska, according to Rob Dauster of NBC Sports. Swanigan suffered the injury in last weekend’s loss to Iowa and did not play in last night’s win over Minnesota.

That said, though the Cornhuskers are not exactly top competition for the Boilermakers at just 12-9 (4-4 Big Ten), Purdue will be without its top rebounder this weekend. Swanigan is averaging 8.9 rebounds per game to go with 10.1 points and though he is still developing his scoring game, his presence in the paint has been a tremendous difference maker this season, with No. 21 Purdue ranking fourth in the nation in rebounding.

To add insult to injury, Purdue is without top three-point shooter Kendell Stephens, who is away from the team following the death of a friend and has missed two games.
