Steve Spurrier doesn’t sugarcoat reason for retirement

Midway through the 2015 season, former South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier abruptly retired following an embarrassing loss at the hands of the LSU Tigers. It was a pretty shocking ordeal and some Gamecock fans haven’t gotten over it.

On Friday, he was at an Arby’s in Hoover, Alabama, where he set social media on fire over the summer last year by wearing sunglasses during a stop, for a charity event benefiting Curing Kids Cancer. He gave a pretty clear-cut reason why he decided to call it quits.

I can’t coach forever. There’s life after coaching,” Spurrier told SEC Country. “It was time for me to go.”

You certainly can’t blame the Head Ball Coach for knowing he wanted to be done with football for good. At least he is still going to be involved with the Gamecocks as an ambassador.
