Marshall offensive tackle Clint Van Horn has been granted a medical redshirt and sixth season of eligibility by the NCAA, according to an official announcement from the football program. Van Horn missed all but three games of the 2015 season due to injury and was viewed as an Outland Trophy finalist over the summer.
“Getting Clint back this year is such a tremendous boost for the entire program,” coach Doc Holliday said in a statement. “He is one of our leaders and truly embodies what it means to be a Marshall student-athlete.”
Van Horn himself was also excited about the news, with quotes posted to Marshall football’s official Twitter saying that he was moved to tears.

Marshall went 10-3 (6-2 C-USA) and finished second in Conference USA’s East Division in spite of losing Van Horn, but he will definitely be welcomed back with open arms. He has good size for his position at 6-foot-5, 310 pounds and experience that is welcome on any offensive line. On top of that, he just seems like a beloved individual in general.
Hopefully, Van Horn can stay healthy in 2016 and close out his collegiate career on a high note.
