Pitt coach trolls James Franklin over ‘no talent required’ tweet

The Pittsburgh Panthers and Penn State Nittany Lions will meet up during the 2016 season to renew their rivalry that has been on hold since the 2000 season. The two teams have met up nearly 100 times in the past and after what Penn State head coach James Franklin tweeted and the response he got, it certainly seems like the rivalry never truly died.

Last week, Franklin sent out a strange tweet with the headline “no talent required.” Many people were confused about this tweet seeing as how it could be a slam at his own team’s talent production, but it was actually in hopes of luring recruits to the program, which is still a little confusing.

Franklin promptly deleted the tweet, but it didn’t go unnoticed by many around the country, including Pitt tight end coach Tim Salem. Sunday night, he decided to post his own tweet showing off “10 things that require zero talent,” an obvious nudge at James Franklin.

The last time these teams met, the Panthers walked away with a 12-0 victory. There is no telling what we could see this year, but the Panthers, who hold a 42-50-4 record against the Nittany Lions, certainly look ready to meet up with their former rivals.

I guess we will find out what is going to happen on September 10.
