On Monday morning, the Buffalo Bills announced that first-round pick Shaq Lawson is set to undergo shoulder surgery on Tuesday. Initially there was no timetable for his return, but ESPN’s Adam Schefter has provided an update.
According to Schefter, Lawson is expected to miss five to six months.
Bills WR Sammy Watkins underwent foot surgery about 3 weeks ago, expected to miss preseason.

That is obviously less than ideal news for the No. 19 overall pick, who was expected to play an immediate role on the Bills defense. However, now he must wait until midway through the season to step onto the field.
With the mid-October/mid-November time frame for his return, it would not be surprising to see the Bills place Lawson on the reserve/PUP will free up a roster spot while forcing the pass rusher to miss the first six games of the season.
