Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor set for Sept. 17, per Colin Cowherd

According to a FOX Sports radio host, Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor is set to take place on September 17.

FOX Sports radio host Colin Cowherd is never shy to throw out his opinions. Cowherd also likes to tout his sources by providing little teasers. So, with the buzz about a potential megafight between boxing star Floyd Mayweather and UFC champion Conor McGregor going around, we shouldn’t be surprised that he threw his rumors into the mix.

On Monday, Cowherd announced during “The Herd” that Mayweather vs. McGregor is set.

“My intel is Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather is going to happen. It changed late last week… got a call then somebody else sent me something yesterday and Saturday… we’ve booked rooms in Vegas,” he said.

Cowherd even went as far as to say the fight is set for September 17.

While Cowherd is claiming to have inside information, it remains highly unlikely that the fight will be happening anytime soon.

Conor McGregor recently appeared on ESPN and dismissed rumors of the potential fight with Mayweather and the reported purse he was offered. Instead, McGregor continues to say he is focused on a rematch with Nate Diaz, which could come in August.

So with McGregor and the UFC working on his return to the Octagon, don’t count on any silly boxing match between an all-time great and athlete with zero professional boxing bouts happening anytime soon.
