Since last season, a number of changes have been made to the University of Kentucky women’s basketball team. The turnover rate of Matthew Mitchell’s Wildcats staff was a substantial one after several assistant coaches went their separate ways.
The latest addition to the staff hired by Mitchell is Hall of Fame coach Lin Dunn.
During her time as a WNBA coach, Dunn led the Indiana Fever team to a league championship in 2012. She was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2014. In her 25-year collegiate career, she had 447 wins, making stops at Miami, Purdue, Mississippi and Austin Peay.
Dunn also has experience coaching the 1992 women’s USA Olympics team, which took home a bronze medal that year.
It’s clear Dunn has the ability to coach at a high level, and will bring a lot of success to the Kentucky team.
“(She is) one of my greatest mentors and dearest friends,” Mitchell said, via the Associated Press.
Dunn is equally excited about the situation, saying that the opportunity was one she “couldn’t pass up.”
