Ohio State alternate uniform could include ‘leather’ helmet

Over the weekend, the Ohio State Buckeyes alternate uniform for the 2016 college football season was leaked. Shortly after the leak surfaced, it was confirmed that the Buckeyes would be wearing a 1916 throwback to celebrate 100 years since the program’s first conference championship.

While we saw the striped jersey and gray pants combo for the alternate look, there was never any sight of the helmet.

When it finally is unveiled, however, it could be something special.

According to Andrew Lind of the Tidewater News and ohiostateuniforms.com, Hydro Graphics Inc. is working on a “leather” throwback helmet to accompany the alternate uniforms.

Interesting, but it could be a hit.

After all, who remembers how incredible the Washington Redskins leather helmet looked?

While we don’t know for certain whether the Buckeyes alternate uniform will feature a leather-inspired helmet, let’s hope it does because that may just give us the best alternate uniform of all-time.
