Trevone Boykin charged with misdemeanor assault

Former TCU and current Seattle Seahawks quarterback Trevone Boykin was charged with misdemeanor assault on Tuesday.

Back in December, Boykin was arrested for his involvement in a bar fight where he attacked a security guard during his team’s trip to San Antonio for the Alamo Bowl. He was subsequently suspended for that game, which would have been the final one of his college career.

ESPN reports that Boykin’s arraignment is set for Aug. 1 and the charge carries a maximum sentence of one year in jail.

Despite this hiccup, the quarterback is still focused on winning a roster spot with the Seahawks after going undrafted in the 2016 NFL Draft and signing with the team.

“Trevone has already agreed to terms with the authorities on a lesser charge,” Boykin’s agent Drew Pittman said in a statement. “He has been accountable and remorseful from the beginning. Trevone is looking forward to training camp starting July 30th and to competing for a roster spot.”

Right now, Trevone Boykin has looked impressive through rookie minicamps and is the favorite to be the second-string guy behind Russell Wilson when training camp opens.
