Former top ten prospect Zach Brown commits to St. John’s

The St. John’s Red Storm will get a huge boost in their recruiting class of 2017 after they landed 7-foot-1 Miami native Zach Brown for next season. It is a huge boost for Chris Mullin, who will be entering his third season with the team by the time Brown arrives on campus.

Brown was formerly a top ten prospect in the class of 2017, but some off-the-court issues have hurt his shot of getting to a premiere program.

However, if he can battle back from his problems, the Red Storm could be looking at a resurgence on the court very soon.

The Miami native was at one point committed to UConn and was considering reclassifying into the class of 2016 to sign early with the Huskies. He was kicked out of Putnam Science Academy for fighting with another team earlier this year and was arrested for credit card fraud a month after decommitting from the Huskies.

Now, Brown is taking his talents to New York City to team up with transfers Justin Simon and Marvin Clark, who both transfer in and will be eligible to play next year. I think it is safe to say Mullin will be happy to have a player like him.
