Four-star safety CJ Avery announces top 5 schools

One of the top defensive backs from the Class of 2017 is one step closer to finding a home. On Friday, four-star safety CJ Avery announced his final five schools.

Avery made his announcement on social media.

“Thank you to all schools that recruited me, but these are my five schools that I will decide from,” he wrote. “I now turn all my focus to our Grenada HS football team and trying to win a state championship!”

Avery’s final five are, in alphabetical order, Clemson, Florida State, Louisville, Mississippi State and Ole Miss.

The 6-foot-1, 195-pounder also held offers from Alabama, Notre Dame, Auburn and Tennessee. Will he remain in his home state of Mississippi or will Avery join one of the ACC teams in his final five?

We’ll have to wait and see. Until then, expect schools to continue their pursuit of Avery, who is ranked the fifth best player in Mississippi, until he makes an official decision.
