Louisiana Tech QB Ryan Higgins arrested for DWI

There is some bad news for what was expected to be a very major player for the Louisiana Tech football program this season. Early Friday morning, projected starting quarterback Ryan Higgins was arrested for DWI.

The News Star reported the news which states Higgins “was booked at just after 5 a.m. and had a bond of $1,750.”

Higgins served as the primary backup to Jeff Driskel a season ago and was in line to be the team’s starter for Week 1, but that is now obviously in question.

Last season in limited action, Higgins threw for 138 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions.

We will have to see whether he faces any discipline from the university or head coach Skip Holtz.

The Bulldogs kickoff their 2016 campaign on Saturday, Sept. 3 against the Arkansas Razorbacks. It will be interesting to see if Higgins is on the field with his teammates.
