The Georgia Bulldogs and head coach Kirby Smart have yet to confirm the news, but the program’s defense took a bit of a hit this week as senior linebacker Tim Kimbrough announced he would be leaving the team.
There had been plenty of speculation that Kimbrough would be leaving and he told Seth Emerson of Dawg Nation that he intends to transfer to the FCS level rather than remaining in the FBS and being forced to sit out for season.
Kimbrough announced his reasoning for his departure on Twitter.

Emerson added in his report that a large reason for Kimbrough’s transfer is a lack of playing time.
As the Bulldogs prepare to take the field for their first season under the direction of Smart, the former defensive coordinator at Alabama, Kimbrough was working with the second-team defense.
Considering the senior was the team’s leading returning tackler, he was likely miffed by the decision.
I had 4 different sets of coaches while I was there and I was good with each coaching staff.. Idk what happened this year

The Bulldogs open their 2016 campaign at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta on Sept. 3 against the North Carolina Tar Heels.
