Photos: Western Kentucky football unveils new uniforms

As promised, the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers unveiled brand new uniforms for the 2016 college football season during Saturday’s fan day event.

Western Kentucky’s new uniforms include a variety of combinations, but each look has a special design that is a tribute to the history, tradition and respect that the Hilltoppers try to instill in their program.

The jerseys show deep ties to the university, with each number featuring the university seal and the school’s alma mater lyrics being embroidered on the outside.

The university said:

Across the new uniforms, pieces of WKU’s long and storied history have been utilized to tell the story of the Hilltoppers.

WKU will carry the legacy of legendary head coach Jimmy Feix on their helmets and performance gear in 2016, utilizing the pattern of his famous fedora which is encased inside the WKU locker room.

A new emblem adorns the chest plate of each jersey with the University’s cupola, the Colonnade – where the Hilltoppers played their earliest football games – and new WKU wordmark now locked together.

WKU’s university seal remains sublimated inside the numbers on each jersey.

“We Shall Never Fail Thee” is taken from WKU’s alma mater, “College Heights.”

The theme of the new uniforms also pays tribute to the present era of the program and the Western Kentucky players of the future. And overall, it is a glaring success.
