The ECU grounds crew has some work to do ahead of the Pirates’ season-opener.
Over the weekend, ECU’s Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium played host to the “Carolina Kickoff” concert featuring performances from Eric Church and Kid Rock.
Following the concert, the area under where the stage was set up appears to need re-sodded .

Ouch.
The good news is that East Carolina director of athletics grounds Joey Perry was prepared for the concert to lead to some complications for the field, so the grounds crew should be prepared and capable of getting field conditions improved within the next two weeks.
ECU kicks off its 2016 campaign on Saturday, Sept. 3 against Western Carolina. Hopefully the field is ready to go.
