Florida State suspends strength coach for DUI arrest

The Florida State Seminoles have suspended strength and conditioning coach Vic Viloria following his DUI arrest over the weekend. Viloria is suspended for the entire month of Sept. and can return to the team on Oct. 1.

Viloria’s 30-day suspension will be without pay.

“I have suspended Coach Viloria for more than a third of the football season to send a strong message about the very serious nature of his offense,” Florida State president John Thrasher said in a statement obtained by Jim Henry of the Tallahassee Democrat.

“We have an outstanding athletics program, and fans must know it operates with class and reflects the university’s values. We are continuing to work with Showtime on their fall series showcasing our talented team, and they have been responsive to our concerns.”

Viloria was reportedly drinking in his office with members of the crew from Showtime’s “A Season With” show which features the Seminoles in 2016 and premieres on Tuesday.

Florida State opens its season on Monday night against Ole Miss in one of the more intriguing match ups of the weekend.
