Minnesota fires longtime wrestling coach J Robinson

Back in July, the University of Minnesota announced it had placed longtime wrestling coach J Robinson on administrative leave. On Thursday, FOX 9 reported the coach has been fired as the school continues its internal investigation over the use and dealing of prescription drugs within the program.

Brandon Eggum, who took over as acting head coach when Robinson was placed on leave, will assume the role of interim head coach.

The entire situation arose when four members of the wrestling team were placed under investigation for the sale and use of prescription drugs. Per FOX 9, at least 14 wrestlers were linked to the scandal which involves Xanax.

Four wrestlers were linked to the sale of the drug, while ten others are expected of using it.

The university is expected to officially announce the news at a press conference later in the day.
