The Iowa State football season has not gotten off to a good start. After an embarrassing loss to FCS opponent Northern Iowa to open the year, they fell to Iowa on Saturday for the third time in four years in a 42-3 blowout.
Despite that, they don’t seem to be switching their allegiance to Joel Lanning as the starting quarterback.
Tommy Birch of The Des Moines Register reported that Lanning was still listed as the team’s starter on the new depth chart released Monday. This comes after he was 8-20 with 86 yards and an interception on Saturday against the Hawkeyes.

Lanning looked promising in the season opener as he threw for 256 yards and three scores, but the Cyclones still lost to the Panthers in the most embarrassing way possible.
In his career, Lanning has thrown for almost 1,600 yards and 13 touchdowns against seven interceptions. It will be interesting to see if he takes the field against TCU.
