Photo: Louisville chrome red helmets to be worn vs. FSU?

The Louisville football program generated some buzz among Cardinal fans and uniform junkies late Tuesday night, when the team’s official equipment Twitter account shared an interesting tweet.

Louisville sent out a tweet that contained nothing more than the eyes emoji.

Of course, that led to plenty of speculation about what the message could mean.

It didn’t take long for Louisville fans to decode the message, though, as the real meaning of the tweet was to draw attention to the account’s new avatar which was a brand spanking new red chrome helmet.

Louisville has quietly been upping their uniform game in recent seasons and this is just the latest great touch.

The question everyone has, however, is: Will these be worn for this weekend’s game against the No. 2 Florida State Seminoles with ESPN’s College GameDay in town?

I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Kickoff between Louisville and Florida State — which is the first top ten match up of the 2016 college football season — is set for noon ET on ABC.
