Art Briles to Auburn next season? Rick Neuheisel predicts so

The Auburn Tigers offense has sputtered to start the 2016 college football season. There has been no rhythm as the Tigers are off to a 1-2 start with LSU coming up this weekend.

That has led many to believe head coach Gus Malzahn could be on the hot seat.

If that’s the case, who could come in to replace Malzahn? According to Rick Neuheisel, who appeared on Sirius XM College Sports Radio, former Baylor head coach Art Briles will be joining the Auburn staff next season and he could be bringing another talented quarterback with him.

“I have a prediction,” Neuheisel stated. “Art Briles will be at Auburn for next year whether it is at head coach or offensive coordinator, Art Briles to Auburn along with Jarrett Stidham.”

That would certainly provide a boost to a struggling Baylor offense, but would the Tigers really want to deal with the PR nightmare that could come with hiring Briles?

To be fair, Briles and Auburn have reportedly already been getting cozy since his firing.

There were reports that Briles played a part in four-star running back Kameron Martin joining Auburn and Stidham was spotted at Auburn’s fall practice.

Only time will tell if Neuheisel’s prediction proves to be true, but it certainly provides an interesting option if Auburn ultimately moves on from Malzahn as the leading man.
