Georgia RB Nick Chubb cleared for South Carolina

After starting the season 3-0, the Georgia Bulldogs are currently on a two-game skid. The team is now in need of a spark and they could get that in the form of star running back Nick Chubb.

Chubb’s status for last weekend’s meeting with Tennessee was in jeopardy all week. Ultimately, Chubb dressed, but rushed the ball just one time and was a non-factor. On Monday, head coach Kirby Smart addressed his running back’s health and said Chubb has been given the all-clear for this weekend’s game against the South Carolina Gamecocks.

“We feel good about him going into this week,” Smart said, via the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

“We’re not holding him back in any kind of way. … He’s cleared to go. So we’ll see where he’s at and make sure he builds his reps as the week goes and is ready to go for the game.”

Chubb returns to the lineup with 425 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 5.1 yards per game.

Like the fans, Chubb’s teammates are also excited to have him back.

“It’s always nice to have Nick Chubb back in your lineup,” senior tackle Greg Pyke said. “But I thought we did a good job with all the backs that ran in the game last week against Tennessee. It’s just icing on the cake to have him back in the lineup.”

Kickoff for Saturday night’s game between Georgia and South Carolina at Williams-Brice Stadium is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on the SEC Network.
