Texas Longhorns running back Chris Warren’s status for the remainder of the season is up in the air.
According to Brian Davis of the Austin American-Statesman, a source indicates the injury Warren suffered in last weekend’s loss to Oklahoma State was much worse than initially thought. The source said Warren could be out 6-8 weeks.
A Texas spokesman later confirmed the sophomore running back will be sidelined “for an extended period of time.”
This season, Warren has rushed for 366 yards and four touchdowns.
Without Warren this weekend against the rival Oklahoma Sooners, and for the foreseeable future, the Longhorns will still have a talented trio of rushers in the backfield — D’Onta Foreman, Kyle Porter and Tristan Houston.
Kickoff for the Red River Showdown on Saturday is set for noon ET at the Cotton Bowl with live coverage on FOX Sports 1.
