The mixed martial arts community is in mourning with news that UFC fighter Josh Samman has passed away at the age of 28. Samman was originally found unresponsive along with his roommate and friend Troy Kirkingburg. Samman spent the last few days in a coma.
Kirkingburg, an MMA announcer for Samman’s Florida-based promotion Combat Night, was pronounced dead on the scene. There are very few details at this time.
Samman’s manager Gary Ibarra confirmed the sad news to FOX Sports.
Along with being a professional fighter, Samman was an incredible writer and produced content for a number of MMA sites. Samman even released a memoir, “The Housekeeper: Love, Death and Prize Fighting”, which documented his struggle with substance abuse and discussed the death of his girlfriend in a car accident in 2013, earlier this year.
Samman has long been one of the most respected members of the MMA community and he will be greatly missed.
Our deepest thoughts and condolences go out to Samman’s friends and family during this difficult and tragic time.
