“The Boz” gave a less than favorable endorsement of Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops on his appearance of Speak for Yourself.
Appearing alongside Vince Young in anticipation of the Red River Rivalry with Texas, Bosworth said that Oklahoma was getting “embarrassed” in bowl games and that it “weighs heavily” on the alumnus. He went on to say that he hopes Oklahoma will begin to “cultivate the next coach.”
While he was complimentary of what Stoops has done in the past, he suggested that Stoops’ tenure should be terminated if they’re unable to win a significant bowl game. Oklahoma opened the season ranked No. 3 but has struggled, evidenced by their 2-2 record. They are currently ranked No. 20 heading in to their game against rival Texas.
Both Stoops and Texas coach Charlie Strong need a win to quiet the chatter that is beginning in regards to their job security. They’ll both be vying for The Golden Hat on Sunday, and possibly coaching for their jobs.
