College Football Playoff continues travel stipend for student-athlete families

The College Football Playoff announced it will continue providing travel assistance for student-athlete families.

The stipend is to cover expenses for the families of student-athletes who need to travel for the two playoff games. Each stipend is worth $2,500. Last year, the College Football Playoff distributed $1.5 million to the four participating teams.

“We are delighted to continue this program for the participants of the College Football Playoff,” said Bill Hancock, executive director of the College Football Playoff, in a statement released on Monday.

“It is a terrific benefit for our student-athletes and one the university presidents and conference commissioners who manage the playoff are proud to support.”

There is still plenty of time left in the season to determine the four playoff teams, but it’s clear the committee is already working to ensure the players will be taken care of when they arrive at the sites for the semifinal and championship games.
