Miami football dismisses WR Sam Bruce for violations of team rules

Highly-touted freshman wide receiver Sam Bruce is no longer a member of the Miami football program.

On Monday, the Hurricanes announced that Bruce, a four-star member of the 2016 recruiting class and the team’s second highest-rated freshman, has been dismissed for multiple violations of team rules.

“Freshman wide receiver Sam Bruce has been dismissed from the Miami football program based on multiple violations of team rules and a failure on his part to meet the clear expectations established to be a part of the Miami football program,” Miami said in a statement, via ESPN.com.

“We wish Sam well with his future academic and football endeavors.”

Bruce started his collegiate career by serving a three-game suspension for a violation of team rules before suffering a “non-football injury.” Bruce did not appear in any games for the Hurricanes.

There is no word on where the wide receiver could land.
