ACC moves women’s basketball tournament to South Carolina

In light of the passing of House Bill 2 in North Carolina, the ACC has decided to move its Women’s College Basketball tournament to Myrtle Beach.

The law unfairly restricts the rights of members of the LGBTQ community.

The departure from North Carolina to South Carolina will mark the first time in United States History that something is moved into South Carolina to escape the infringement of rights. How the tables have turned.

It is still undecided whether Myrtle Beach will be a one time destination for the tournament or if it will become a recurring location. Coastal Carolina is set to host the tournament.

ACC women’s basketball associate commissioner Nora Lynn Finch said they were also at Florida and Virginia as possible sites.

The tournament, which takes place on between March 1-5, will be the tournaments seventh appearance in the state of South Carolina and its first in two decades when they played in Rock Hill.
