Urban Meyer has won three National Championships and has a career winning percentage of .855. So when he says this Ohio State is the most talented team he’s ever coached, it’s worth taking notice of.
During the weekly Big Ten teleconference, Meyer was reminded that during media days in July he said his Buckeyes were loaded with talent, but it remained to be seen how quickly they would progress.
Meyer addressed the reminder by saying, “Sometimes, you get asked questions like, ‘Is this the most talented team you’ve ever had?’ I think so. It’s a very talented team that gets better each week. Certainly, you see the evolution of the defense.”
That certainly seems to be the case, as Ohio State is near the top in the nation in total defense this season.
He was quick to qualify his statement, though, pointing out that Ohio State still has its toughest games ahead of them. They still face No. 8 Wisconsin and No. 4 Michigan. Though they were never in danger of losing to Indiana last weekend, their offense looked a flat and they failed to dominate the way you would expect a national powerhouse to dominate.
If they don’t play their best brand of football against either of those teams, they will lose.
