With seven weeks behind us now, the College Football Playoff picture is starting come into focus. With both Ohio State and Michigan playing in the Big Ten and ranked No. 2 and No. 3 in the country respectively, Robert Smith had an interesting order for his power rankings this week.
It’s an interesting pick considering the fact that Ohio State is coming off a gritty victory against a talented Wisconsin team, and that Smith is an Ohio State alumnus. Nobody would fault him for choosing his alma mater as the best team in the conference, but he’s clearly drinking the Wolverine kool-aid.
Michigan has played only one ranked opponent, those same Badgers that gave Ohio State fits this weekend, and only managed a 14-7 victory in a defensive football game. The Wolverines schedule is devoid of many real challenges the rest of the way with the exception of their final game and the rivalry game with Michigan State.
Michigan and Ohio State face off in the season-finale in a game that will have postseason implications.
