Notre Dame AD says Brian Kelly’s job is safe

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are not having the success on the field that many would have expected coming into the season, but head coach Brian Kelly can breathe a sigh of relief.

Kelly was believed to be on the hot seat, but Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick said the head coach will still be leading the team when next season rolls around.

“Brian will lead this team out of the tunnel opening day next year,” Swarbrick told Matt Fortuna of ESPN.

The Fighting Irish currently sit at 2-5 on the season.

After entering the season with College Football Playoff hopes, it’s been a disappointing 2016 in South Bend but at least Notre Dame can move forward knowing its head coach will still be in place when the team attempts to right the ship in 2017.
