Baker Mayfield returned to Lubbock on Saturday night and made the most of his chance to shine on his old stomping grounds. The former Texas Tech walk-on turned Oklahoma star used a record-setting performance to lead the Sooners over the Red Raiders in a 66-59 shootout.
Mayfield completed 27-of-36 passes for 545 and a school record seven touchdowns. The 545 yards was the second-highest single-game performance in school history.
After the game, however, Mayfield wasn’t feeling the love.
Not only did the Texas Tech fans shower Mayfield in boos and chants of “F*** you, Baker!”, they also showered him with garbage as he was leaving the field. It was quite the disappointing scene.
Wow. #TexasTech students chanting: "F*ck you Baker!" after #OU QB Baker Mayfield gets personal foul for taunting. #OU 66 #Tech 52 .. 4Q

It’s okay, though, because Mayfield and Oklahoma got the last laugh.
The No. 16 Sooners now sit at 5-2 on the season and return to action next weekend by playing host to the lowly Kansas Jayhawks.
