Police confiscate over $500 in booze at one Georgia-Florida tailgate

This really shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. A game previously known as The Worlds Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party, it’s no surprise that a huge amount of liquor was present at the tailgate parties in anticipation of the game.

Police have made a haul worthy of the best high-school prom after party today; an estimated $500 worth of brown and clear.

If you’re trying to count, that’s 25 bottles of Skol vodka and six bottles of Captain Morgan Rum.

Proactive steps have been taken for a number of years to try and limit the drunkenness that is often associated with this game. No longer referred to as the TWLOCP, the name applied to the rivalry is now The River City Showdown. People aren’t too keen on the name though, and it will likely do little to curb these kinds of things from happening before these games.

That’s only from one tailgate, by the way. But $500 isn’t chump change and while those kids were anticipating the sting of distilled alcohol in their throats, they’ll instead feel the sting of a bunch of wasted money.
