Florida QB Austin Appleby to replace injured Luke Del Rio

Austin Appleby is set to return to the Florida Gators starting lineup.

Florida previously announced Luke Del Rio would not be able to play this weekend due to injury. Appleby, who went 1-1 as the starter earlier this year, will now get the call in an SEC East clash with South Carolina on Saturday.

In limited time this season, Appleby has recorded 470 yards, three touchdowns and one interception.

According to ESPN.com, true freshman Feleipe Franks received a majority of the backup reps in practice. Another freshman, Kyle Trask, will be the No. 3 quarterback on the roster this weekend.

The 6-2 Gators currently sit in first-place in the SEC East.

Kickoff between the Gators and Gamecocks is set for noon ET in Gainesville on CBS.
